Mahers Photographic Drogheda exclusively present 'Flying High Shooting Low', a fun evening of Aviation & Wildlife Photography with Andy Rouse. Andy is a multi-award winning professional Wildlife Photographer and conservationist, who is a larger than life character. After making a BIG impression the last time he visited we had to have him back.

'Flying High Shooting Low' will be an exploration of Wildlife and Aviation in Andy’s unique humorous style, suitable for photographers, animal and aviation lovers alike. Andy has published 18 books, has photographed wildlife all over the world and is an Ambassador for both Canon and 21st Century Tiger. His aviation work is attracting the interest of air forces worldwide. The show will be informal chat style, showing images and talking about stories behind them, both wildlife and aviation. Expect some videos too!

Andy Rouse is an inspirational wildlife photographer who is well known the world over. A unique and charismatic figure he is famed for his ability to capture moments from the lives of animals in the wild from a different view point and often from his trade-mark stance, that of being "up close and personal" to some of the most fascinating and often potentially dangerous animals. Over recent years, Andy’s photographic style has been developing to be all encompassing of the animals and their environment in order to augment his passion for telling a story and to highlight the beauty of the natural world.

Enjoy superb image quality, whatever you are photographing. From street reportage to location portraiture and landscapes in the evening light, the EOS 5D Mark IV captures incredible detail, even in extreme contrast. 4K video delivers new levels of performance. Continuous 7fps shooting helps when chasing the perfect moment, while GPS keeps a record of your movements. Wi-Fi and NFC make wireless control and image sharing quick and easy.

•Shoot captivating stills wherever you are, day or night. 30.4-megapixel resolution delivers extraordinary detail.

•Capture incredible detail when shooting movies by shooting in 4K resolution, with the ability to grab still images from your 4K footage.

•Stay focused and precise in the most chaotic environments. A 61-point expanded autofocus system delivers pin-sharp images even in low-light conditions.

•Versatility that lets you tackle any subject, from weddings to photojournalism and from landscape to portraits. Shoot it all with the flexible, and responsive EOS 5D Mark IV.

•Capture those unmissable action shots with a faster 7fps continuous shooting rate

•Get creative. Make unique image adjustments after shooting with Dual Pixel RAW.

•Control your camera and share images wirelessly with built in Wi-Fi. Transfer your favourite shots to your smartphone using the Canon Camera Connect app.

•Flip through menu functions and settings easily. Control your camera with a 1,620,000-dot 3.2-inch touchscreen LCD.

•Dual memory card slots allow you to shoot for longer or back up your work without the need to switch cards

Because the devil is in the detail

From the darkest shadow to the brightest highlight, a 30-megapixel CMOS sensor captures fine detail even in the toughest conditions, with a maximum native sensitivity of ISO 30,000. Shoot Dual Pixel RAW files for post-production adjustments like you’ve never seen before.

Precision as standard

Stay focused, with an expanded 61-point AF system that tracks even the most erratic subjects, and that can be customised to every situation. Accurate exposures come from a metering system so advanced it has its own 150,000-pixel RGB+IR sensor. Anti-flicker technology combats variations in brightness under artificial lighting.

Engineered to perform

In pursuit of the perfect moment, the EOS 5D Mark IV can shoot continuously at 7fps. Its viewfinder and user interface are highly customisable, with intuitive touch-screen operation offering new levels of camera control. Add weather-proof sealing and you have a DSLR that’s at home in just about any environment you can think of.

Step up to cinematic 4K

Following in the footsteps of its predecessors, the EOS 5D Mark IV once again offers DSLR movie makers new ways in which to be creative. Capture 4K footage at 30fps, from which 8-megapixel still images can be extracted as JPEG files. Or explore different timescales with 120 fps HD video for slow-motion effects and built-in timer facilities for time-lapse movies. Dual Pixel CMOS AF allows continuous focusing – lock on to moving objects with just a tap of the camera’s (or your smartphone’s) touch screen.

Stay connected

There’s other data in the EOS 5D Mark IV files too. Built-in GPS tags images with your location as you shoot them. IPTC metadata can also be embedded. With in-camera RAW processing it’s easy to produce client-ready JPEGs, and Wi-Fi and NFC connectivity makes it simple to send or share them, using either  FTP/FTPS networking facilities or your smartphone.

Dual Pixel Raw

Each of the EOS 5D Mark IV 30-million pixels is made up of two photodiodes, which can be used together or individually. This technology enables the creation of Dual Pixel RAW (DPRAW) files, which contain a pair of images shot from two very slightly different points of view.

When processed using Digital Photo Professional software, DPRAW files allow photographers to perform one of three types of unique adjustments.

Image Microadjustment allows the position of maximum sharpness to be adjusted – great for fine-tuning portrait images. Bokeh Shift allows out-of-focus highlights to be shifted horizontally so they coincide better with in-focus elements. Ghosting reduction can be used to reduce the appearance of artefacts like flare.

Lens Optical Correction and Digital Lens Optimizer

Lens Optical Corrections can now be applied to JPEG files as they are shot. This processing compensates for the effect of chromatic aberration, light fall-off towards the edges of the frame and the edge distortions sometimes associated with wide-angle lenses.

Canon’s Digital Lens Optimizer technology, which was previously only accessible when processing Raw files in DPP, can also now be applied to JPEG files in camera as they are captured. The Digital Lens Optimizer uses optical design values to correct lens aberrations, diffraction, and the softening of resolution caused by the low-pass filter

Living close to the sea, I like nothing better than being alone on beach looking for a composition and waiting for the sky to come to life with the first or last rays of the sun. Over the last few years I have been asked many questions by fellow photographers about my seascapes. Not being one to ever hide my techniques or refuse to reveal my locations I always try as best I can to explain exactly how and where my images where taken. I tend to babble a bit when explaining how and when so below I will list exactly what I do. I am by no means an expert at this stuff but having followed and attended lectures many very successful photographers I think I am just about on par with my technique. So here go's... I'll try to be brief but thats unlikely knowing my happy fingers..... I'll list in the order I go about things...
